Russell Ainsworth has tried more than twenty civil rights cases as first chair in federal and state courts, focusing on wrongful convictions, police brutality, false arrest and First Amendment claims. He argues appeals in several federal circuits as well as the Illinois Appellate and Supreme Courts. He co-founded The Exoneration Project, a University of Chicago clinic that works to overturn wrongful convictions.
